Clinical Department of Oncology A.
The Clinical Department of Oncology, Section A, conducts full-profile diagnostics and systemic treatment of patients with any type of tumour, especially tumours of the digestive system and the female reproductive system. Within the systemic anti-cancer treatment, we use: single and multi-drug chemotherapy programs and the most modern biological therapies (immunotherapy, molecularly targeted drugs, targeted therapies) as part of the therapeutic programs.
Systemic treatment is a treatment applied to the entire organism of the patient. This treatment uses mainly chemotherapy, but also immunotherapy and hormone therapy. The aim of this treatment is the complete elimination of cancer cells from the patient’s body, including the so-called micrometastases (micrometastatic disease).
We implement therapy with the use of regimens as part of extended hospitalization, to the full extent contained in the National Health Fund’s catalogue of services for both women and men. In addition, we conduct individually tailored analgesic and supportive therapy. Within the frames of cooperation with the Chemotherapy Outpatient Clinic, we provide systemic treatment (in the case of one- and multi-day regimens) to patients who do not require hospitalization. We also provide treatment in combination with other methods of local treatment – oncological surgery and radiotherapy. As part of the cooperation, we also provide oncological consultations regarding systemic treatment for other units of the Centre.
We participate in clinical trials of new drugs in order to provide our patients with an additional chance for effective treatment.
The Clinical Department of Oncology, Section A consists of single and 3-person rooms with bathrooms, where patients who require hospitalization are cared for – there are 37 beds.
The medical team consists of specialists in clinical oncology, palliative medicine and general practice as well as specialists in the field of clinical oncology.
We are a unit accredited to conduct internships in the field of clinical oncology for many medical specializations.
Doctors of the Clinical Department of Oncology, Section A are members and leaders of the Interdisciplinary Teams for the Treatment of Breast Diseases, Gastrointestinal Neoplasms, Systemic Diseases, Urinary System Neoplasms and Female Genital Neoplasms.
The Department’s doctors also admit patients at the Oncology Clinic in the Polyclinic building, where diagnostics are carried out and oncological care and supervision are provided after the completion of the treatment.
The Clinical Department of Oncology, Section A employs a nursing team consisting of 20 nurses and 3 midwives. They specialize in oncology nursing and healthcare management in master’s and bachelor’s degrees.
The staff of the Department actively participates and conducts internal and hospital-wide training, as well as external – national and international, constantly improving their professional qualifications in order to improve the quality of medical services.

Przyjęcie do Oddziału
Izba Przyjęć znajduje się na niskim parterze w tylnej części Budynku Głównego. Z jej usług korzystają osoby skierowane do planowanej hospitalizacji oraz pacjenci leczeni w Centrum Onkologii, u których nastąpiło nagłe pogorszenie stanu zdrowia.
Pacjenci zgłaszający się do przyjęcia powinni mieć dowód osobisty lub inny dokument potwierdzający tożsamość.
Po rejestracji w Recepcji Izby Przyjęć chory udaje się do przebieralni, jeśli zachodzi taka potrzeba pielęgniarka/ sanitariusz pomaga choremu przy przebraniu się. Pacjent przekazuje okrycia wierzchnie rodzinie lub pozostawia je na przechowanie w depozycie szpitalnym. Na oddział docelowy chory udaje się sam lub jeśli zachodzi taka potrzeba jest zaprowadzony lub przewieziony przez sanitariusza Izby Przyjęć.

Szpital nie ponosi odpowiedzialności za rzeczy pozostawione w szafkach przy łóżku chorego, dlatego też wszelkie wartościowe przedmioty (np. pieniądze, biżuteria, karty płatnicze) należy zostawić w domu lub przekazać do Depozytu Rzeczy Wartościsiowych mieszczącego się w Kasie Centrum Onkologii.
